The mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Services is to lead with hope and drive action, shaping futures and igniting transformation across cultures and generations. Through innovative programs in educational enrichment, public health, youth leadership, food access and wellness, family support, and economic opportunity, we empower individuals, youth and families to overcome barriers, rise and lead purposeful, liberated lives.
Our vision is to build Dr. King’s Beloved Community – a just, compassionate region where all people are embraced and empowered to thrive holistically with dignity, strength, and equitable access to opportunities.
We help this vision and commitment come alive through the programs which in part address some of the most pressing needs that our under-resourced community has. These programs include:
- After-school literacy-based programming
- College Readiness Academy
- Historical Black Colleges and Universities tour
- Prevention services to address poor health and maintenance of good health via the Mason Square Health Task Force,
- Health & Nutrition Services via Emergency Food Pantry,
- Public Health & Teen Leadership,
- Violence Prevention,
- Cultural and Sports teams
We are very fortunate to have a committed group of professional and paraprofessional staff who have a well-demonstrated commitment to our consumers and community.
Our Board of Directors who represent diverse sectors of our City are both fully engaged and dynamic. Blessed are we to have over 100 volunteers who are involved in many critical areas of service delivery and who make it possible for us to serve over 650 consumers every week.
