About the Annual Historically Black College Tour
Since 1983, the HBCU Tour Committee, formerly known as the Youth Cultural Education Organization (YCEO), a program of the Springfield, Massachusetts’ Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Services, Inc. has provided a strong college-prep program.  In addition the HBCU Tour also provides an annual tour to Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) every Spring.

HBCU Tour Committee is a group of dedicated professionals volunteering their personal time.  Each year our committee provides guidance and assistance to future college bound students.  Our structured seminars include information on preparing for pre-college tests (SAT and ACT) and awareness of the financial aid process, tours of local colleges and universities, and skill building for essay writing.

In January, the HBCU Tour collaborates with American International College (AIC) to provide an annual HBCU alumnae forum.  This program enhances participant’s understanding of HBCU.  The panel also addresses how attending an HBCU has influenced their career.

It is our belief that the HBCU Tour experience will provide participating youth with a number of opportunities for their future academics. Students interested in the HBCT Tour can find applications at area high schools, churches, and community centers.
